Hi! My name is Max and I came in with my BFF Mia! I’m the Maltese and Mia is the Chihuahua. We CAN be adopted together but we don't have to be.

Sadly our owner passed away so we were taken to a shelter but they were very full. The staff felt it was best for us to go to the rescue where we are in a foster home and they can help us find the right forever home for us!

I am mostly deaf and mostly blind but once I know the lay of the land I can navigate pretty well and I DO respond to my name if you speak up.

I would do best in a home either with Mia, another dog who is okay with my needs, or someone who will be home more than they are away.

While I do get along with others, due to our unique situation, we would do best in a home without young children.

I am also both potty-trained, pee-pad trained, and crate trained so if you needed to leave me alone for a while, you can do so with confidence!

As an older dog, I will need to have regular medical checkups. I have mild allergies and a slight heart murmur but nothing to worry about. Oh and I just had my teeth cleaned and I came through that just fine!

Most important, as you can see in my photos, I require grooming monthly and a bath frequently.

If you think I may be a good match, or you would like to get to know me better, please click the Adoption Application button below and you will be contacted by an adoption counselor!

Due to home introductions that are part of the adoption process, we can only accept applications from interested parties who are in or near San Diego County, California at this time.
