Hi there — my name is Agate, and 2026 is my year to find my forever family. 🤍✨ I’m a gentle Rosy Boa with a quiet nature, a resilient spirit, and a hopeful heart. My story began with good intentions but a lot of fear. I was given as a “thank you” gift to someone who was deeply afraid of snakes. Even so, they tried — but I was housed with another snake (which is a big no-no for Rosy Boas). Although we were the same age, I was the smaller one, and the constant proximity caused stress I couldn’t escape. As my human’s health declined, they worried deeply about what would happen to me if they could no longer care for me. They didn’t want me to end up at a shelter — they just wanted to know I would be safe. 💔 That concern is what led me to rescue, where I spent time in rehabilitation learning what calm, species-appropriate care feels like. With my own space, consistent routines, and a peaceful environment, I’ve been able to decompress and truly begin thriving. Now I’m ready for the next chapter — one where I’m not just cared for, but genuinely cherished. I’m looking for a home where I can be a beloved pet and part of the family. Rosy Boas, like me, are known for being calm, slow-moving, and wonderfully manageable in size — though I’ll be honest, I can be a bit testy at times. Observing my body language and respecting my boundaries is key to building trust with me, and I may do best with someone who already understands “snake language” and knows when to give space. ✨ Rosy Boa – Species & Personality Facts ✨ • Typically grow to about 2–3 feet in length • Ground-oriented snakes that prefer exploring horizontally • Generally calm and steady, with individual personalities • Communicate clearly through body language — patience and observation matter • Must be housed alone • Lifespan: commonly 20–30 years in captivity with proper care 🏠 Husbandry & Enclosure Requirements 🏠 • Enclosures should prioritize ground space over height - The rescue will help guide you • Minimum setup should allow me to fully stretch out, with bigger is always better • Front-opening enclosures are strongly recommended to reduce stress • Temperature gradient: warm side 88–92°F, cool side 75–80°F • Low humidity species — dry, well-ventilated setups are essential • Multiple snug hides help me feel safe and secure • Simple, functional décor works best — cozy over clutter 🐍 I’m looking for a human who: • Can provide a safe, thermostat-controlled heat-appropriate enclosure for a Rosy Boa • Understands (or wants to learn) proper Rosy Boa care, including low humidity needs • Respects my body language and understands that I may be testy at times • Can give me time to settle in — 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to build trust, and 3 months to truly feel at home ⏳ I’m calm, steady, and ready to bring a little peace and resilience into the right home. Could this be our year together? 🏡 ✨ PLEASE NOTE: 1️⃣ Applications accepted only from San Diego County or nearby 2️⃣ We do not ship reptiles 🚫✈️ but can sometimes work with adopters who can travel 🚗 3️⃣ Travel adoption depends on the animal and is at the board’s discretion 💌 If you’re ready to give me a safe, loving home, apply today!
