Hi, I’m Rojo 🦎🔥
My story started when I came into a shelter as a stray—no one knows exactly how I ended up on my own, but I was lucky enough to be given a second chance. A kind person stepped in to help me, even though she knew she might not be my forever home. She wanted to give me safety and stability while I waited for the right match—and that’s exactly what she did.
Now, she’s made the thoughtful (and very loving) decision to help me find a home where I can get the consistent attention I deserve. Due to health challenges, it’s become harder for her to care for a lizard like me, and she knows I would thrive with someone who has more time and ability to dedicate to my care. She calls herself a “bridge,” not my ending—and I think that’s pretty special.
So now I’m ready for my real forever home.
I’m a bearded dragon, which means I’m a pretty chill, curious, and interactive reptile when my needs are met. I enjoy basking, exploring, and watching the world around me. With the right setup and routine, I can be a really rewarding companion.
Here’s what I need to thrive:
Proper enclosure: A spacious tank (at least 4’x2’x2’) with good ventilation
Lighting & heat:
UVB lighting is essential for my health (this helps me process calcium!)
A basking spot around 95–105°F and a cooler side in the 75–85°F range
Lights should be on a consistent day/night cycle
Diet:
A mix of fresh greens (like collard greens, mustard greens, squash)
Live insects such as dubia roaches or crickets (dust them with calcium!)
Clean, fresh water available
Handling & enrichment:
I benefit from gentle, regular handling so I stay social and comfortable
Time outside my enclosure (safely supervised) is a bonus!
Clean habitat:
Regular spot cleaning and full enclosure cleanings to keep me healthy
I do best with someone who understands reptile care—or is excited to learn and commit to it. My needs aren’t complicated, but they are important.
If you’re looking for a unique companion and are ready to provide a consistent, well-maintained home, I might be your guy. I’ve already been given a second chance—now I’m just waiting for my forever one.
