~~GUEST POST~~ Are you looking for a new best friend that isn't a pint-size pup? This may be the dog for you! Piper is amazing. She wants to be your buddy, your companion, and the one you want to take with you on adventures. Piper is a great dog for the right home. We know her, love her, and want the best for her so we're helping her find the right home to suit her personality. In the right environment, she is a perfect dog! She wants to be the center of your universe, to be your buddy, your companion, the one you turn to for support, the one you turn to when you need cuddles, and the one you want to take with you on adventures. She may do okay with older respectful kids, but No children under the age of 10/11, no cats, and no other dogs. Don't get us wrong, she does well with these groups in small doses and when there is no food around but not as roommates. She's just over other roommates stealing her food, even the food that had her name on it 😉 As we said, she's an amazing dog and we love her! If your home is not the right home for her but you want to help, please share this URL! A note from her current home: 'Piper needs a forever home - with no small children, no small dogs, and no cats. Piper has been with us, as most of you know since she was 8 weeks old and at the time it was just her and another part-time dog roommate. Over the past couple of years, as our family grew with 2 babies and rescue cats, she has become more and more food and attention-possessive. The part-time dog roommate would bully her until that was no longer a good living situation. The cats have started to play chicken by stealing her food and she's over it. We have made all the changes in terms of managing these issues and we have paid for lots of training and even employed someone to come in once a week to give her attention that is all hers but the reality is no one is happy this way. I am a new mom with 2 under 2 so my focus can't be on her like it used to be. My husband who adores Piper is a firefighter and is away working up to 6 days at a time leaving just me at home with everyone. As the babies grow into toddlers Piper is not dealing with this well. She is attention starved which breaks our hearts but life has shifted and she hasn't handled these changes well. This is why it is with a heavy heart we have decided to find the right home, a better home than ours, for her. We want her happy and without making huge compromises that are truly unrealistic, we can't do that for her. We’re looking for a home for her to thrive in! She loves playing ball, loves attention, loves to camp, loves to swim loves other dog friends (not roommates), and is very submissive in the right environment. We are not trying to 'dump' her or 'abandon' her, we are not taking her to a shelter, we are taking the responsibility to place her ourselves since we know her best, and our friends at SBRSC offered to help. We love her and wish we didn't have to do this but we do. Piper is a “working” golden retriever (different than the 'family' line), spayed, and is 3.5 years old. She has been kennel trained and knows how to walk well on a leash, sit, stay, lay down, “pool time”, bed, and more.' If you think she may be the dog for you or you have more questions, please apply below and we will reach back out to you.
