DELILAH IS PENDING ADOPTION - WE ARE NOT TAKING ANY MORE APPLICATIONS AT THIS TIME FOR THIS PET
Hi! My name is Delilah! Because I am absolutely delightful :)
I was surrendered to the rescue because my previous family didn't have enough time for me. I am a VERY social dragon and I am looking for a family who wants to spend lots of time with me. I’m happy go lucky, carefree, engaging, adaptive, and cheerful!
As a beardie, I require my own habitat as we do best housed individually. With the right diet, habitat, substrate, temperature, and humidity I can live a long and healthy life of up to 12 to 14 years! We are not sure of my age as I have already been in 2 homes that gave me up :( What we do know is that I am a happy, healthy full-grown adult that will be around for quite a long time.
I love to be with my people, bask in the sun (supervised), and get plenty of exercise. I'm a great eater and my favorite food is a raspberry treat! I did have the onset of MBD that you can see just barely in my chin but the rescue has worked hard to halt it in its tracks! I will require a large melamine as my enclosure to keep me on this healthy path.
My age determines what I eat! I currently need to eat 20% protein and 75% veggies and 5% fruit. Basically, a good salad topped with a few bugs for flavor. I was not fed the right foods in my previous home so I am still working on getting used to greens but I am doing better and better with each feeding. The bearded dragon is probably the most popular pet lizard by virtue of it having more of a personality than most other lizards. Beardies are widely captive bred and their care requirements are easily established given the right information. Beardies come from very hot regions of Australia and like it hot. Beardies eat insects and plant material and are usually very hardy feeders.
